In 1984 I started a project
through the encouragement of Master Wang Kiu to publish some information
about our Wing Chun. In 1989 I felt ready to present an informative
Newsletter covering many aspects of Wang Kiu lineage Wing Chun.
Unfortunately I was in Victoria, my teacher Dr. G.K. Khoe was in Vancouver
and Wang Kiu was in Holland so a joint project was difficult. Consequently
I went on my own to publish something. The end result was a series of six
well received journals by practitioners around the world. The first volume
consisted of eight 8.5 x 11 inch pages. The final volume was 16 pages of
articles and photos.
I decided early on that I should try to do something about Wing Chun politics that I was tired of (we are the best) and expand the initial concept to include information from all lineages after the first six issues were published. So, in Volume 1, Number 4, I published a well received article "The Sticking Hands of Wing Chun" by Sifu Robert Chu. At that time many things in Wing Chun were also still considered as "classified", I am sure for business reasons. So I got into some trouble for publishing some of the things related to the Wooden Dummy. Now 14 years later I am still receiving some letters from Europe asking for back copies of this newsletter. Currently I am looking into the cost to reprint the six issues. Some of the information on this website comes from these Viewpoint newsletters. My current thinking is to offer the Viewpoints in a downloadable format. | |||||||||||||||
