Club Rules

The purpose of the Wing Chun Club rules is to maintain a cordial, safe environment in which to practice Wing Chun. From experience the things that cause problems are students telling students what to do, practicing things outside of the curriculum, practicing faster than you can control.

  • Attend regularly so you know what’s going on.

  •

  • Practice in a calm relaxed fashion; if things get heated, stop.

  •

  • Always have patience with your training partner.

  •

  • Try not to correct each other; one teacher is enough.

  •

  • Understand the difference between training and fighting.

  •

  • For fast competitive training, eye protection is mandatory.

  •

  • Be careful of fingers to the face and chops to the throat.

  •

  • Be careful of footsweeps; not everyone knows how to fall.

  •

  • Be careful of kicks to the knee; knees can’t be repaired.

  •

  • No freestyle sparring with non club members at the club.

  •

  • If any part of the training looks unsafe, don’t do it.

  •

  • Don’t come to class under the influence of alcohol.

  •

  • Because of close contact drills, cleanliness is a must.

  •

  • Learn the forms and do Wing Chun; it’s not a kickboxing club!
