"Every Point, Points Towards the Center"
Sometimes when the Chinese put two identical characters together it means every. Thus POINT POINT means every point. What this saying means is that all of your actions must be directed towards the center of the opponent. In this way the opponent will receive the full impact of your force and you are less likely to miss your intended target.
What does this really means?
In Wing Chun position is very important. If you can point your weapons at the center of the opponent then you will gain an advantage. If the opponent tries to get your arms off the center then we don't go or we return back to he center with a recovery movement. A strategy in the sticking hands training is to sense when the opponent opens the center or crosses the center. Both are errors. If the opponent has a perfect center position and can keep it that way then it is very difficult to launch a successful attack. No matter what your arm position is, the intent of your hand is like a magnet that is attracted to the central axis of the opponent. This applies to the arms, legs or to the body.
